Astrological Counseling

photo 12.38.34 PM.JPG

“My evenings are taken up very largely with astrology. I make horoscopic calculations in order to find a clue to the core of psychological truth. Some remarkable things have turned up which will certainly appear incredible to you.”

~Carl Jung in a letter to Sigmund Freud (June 12, 1911)

Astrological Counseling

I offer astrological counseling for psycho-spiritual exploration, understanding, and transformation. Astrology utilized in this way can be a missing key for deep inner work and can shed light on the path towards greater harmony with the natural rhythms and cycles of one’s life journey. My approach to astrology is to share the potentials and opportunities I see while exploring how the symbols and archetypes are manifesting uniquely for each individual. Astrology is a wonderful tool for self-knowledge and a help in times of challenge or transition. It can facilitate tremendous insight and peace, as well as provide timelines for certain archetypal or energetic influences reflected in our lives and inner states of being. Consultations available for birth chart exploration, current influences, relationship dynamics, and timing for important events.

I probably won’t schedule you during a Void-of-Course Moon

For those of you who have tried to schedule with me during a “Void-of-Course Moon” and came up against my request to re-schedule, check out this article for an explanation about the do’s and don’ts of VOC Moons!

Also, if you would like to follow the Void Moons, here is a calendar.

Note that right now we are in an extra long VOC Moon time: Thu 3/31 at 9:43a until Sat 4/2 at 7:16a).

Mercury goes retrograde

Mercury goes retrograde at 4:48p EDT until Apr 23. This is not a negative time, but rather the perfect time for a mental retreat inward. It may feel annoying to break one’s usual drive forward because of delays or issues in need of review or repair, but the retrograde period is an organic, necessary, and divine part of the eternal cycle. It can be a time of re-discovery & re-visioning, a time that balances us.

Mercury is turning retrograde at 24º Aries ♈ and going back to 13º Aries. Wherever you have these degrees of Aries in your chart is the house of experience where the bulk of your review, repair, or contemplation will take place.

Venus joins forces with Chiron

Venus brings her capacity for love and interpersonal relatedness to join forces with Chiron today, the Wounded Healer. If hurt feelings bubble up to the surface, we can trust they are coming up to be seen, heard, understood, and healed.

We must “stand the tension of the opposites”

Perhaps there is a part that wants to rush forward into a new adventure, ready for the journey ahead, and feeling optimism and faith. Yet there is another part that is cautious, remembering past failures, and shrewdly weighing the pros & cons. 3/28: Jupiter in Aries (sign of “I”) opposition Saturn retrograde in Libra (sign of “we”). Yes, these energies may feel in conflict, yet they balance and temper one another.

This is the last of 3 oppositions between Jupiter and Saturn in this sequence - the first was on May 23 2010, the second on August 16 2010. This may correlate with a final trigger of a certain internal conflict/reconciliation regarding these two different planets (principles) now in opposite signs. Jupiter is about expansion, Saturn is about consolidation...

Jung suggests that we must “stand the tension of the opposites” in order to transcend them... “The apparently unendurable conflict is proof of the rightness of your life. A life without inner contradiction is either only half a life or else a life in the Beyond... The self is made manifest in the opposites and in the conflict between them.”
-C.G. Jung

Venus, goddess of love, kisses dreamy Neptune

May we soak up this moment, as Venus, goddess of love, kisses dreamy Neptune tonight, right before entering his sign, Pisces, for 3 1/2 weeks. Perhaps boundaries melt away, and a glimpse of union is felt. You float gently, letting imagination guide. The voice of intuition speaks within inspiring us towards higher expressions of love & creativity... Or, there might be confusion, illusion, or over-idealization.

The Sun conjunct Uranus in Aries

Powerful energies are at play today! There is a potential for surprising little fires to blaze up suddenly - as the Sun, fresh into Aries ♈, sign of the archetypal warrior - lights up and heats up freedom-loving, revolutionary Uranus ♅. Aries helps us develop genuine courage and Uranus urges us towards integrated authentic self-expression, resonating with inner pressing truths.

The “Super Moon”

The Full “Super Moon,” said to have a stronger pull on the tides of the oceans and the blood in our bodies... Unpredictable and shocking is still in the air. Uranus seeks change for the purpose of freeing us from ego limitations.  I am envisioning best possible outcomes (The Moon opposes Uranus today, and after the Sun enters Aries on 3/20, marking the Spring Equinox, the Sun conjoins Uranus on 3/21)!

Mercury’s shadow period

It’s that time again! Mercury will be on vacation (retrograde) Mar 30-Apr 23 (24º Aries back to 13ºAries). Today we begin Mercury’s shadow period, which means it’s a good idea to begin being extra mindful of details, of what you say and hear, of what you write or read, of what you buy and sell, etc. Otherwise it may have to be reviewed. Try to get major, important, or delicate transactions completed before Mar 30th.

When Mercury goes on vacation, a part of us can too. One reason it’s great to complete important transactions before Mercury goes retrograde, is so that during the retrograde period you have an opportunity to take a small break from all the mundane details of daily life, and go inward for a more contemplative and relaxed time...

The Uranus Pluto square

Uranus & Pluto are almost square (a stressful aspect, requiring action, resulting in overcoming challenge) and will be exact 7 times in the next 6 years. Low side: Uranus rules hurricanes, explosions, catastrophes - sudden, expected ones. Pluto rules raw power, all forms including nuclear. High side: Uranus = freedom and liberation. Pluto = deep transformation for the purpose of personal and collective empowerment.

“In the past few weeks, during the gateway to this period [the Uranus Pluto square], we have seen the following events occur: civil war in Libya; the end of Mubarak’s thirty year rule in Egypt; unrest in several other Arab countries; the Dalai Lama resigning from political life; a major quake in New Zealand and a 8.9 earthquake in Japan creating tsunamis in the Pacific and a potential nuclear reactor crisis...”  “...It’s quite reasonable to think that our inner lives affect the outer world, as well as vice versa. So we can pray, we can meditate, we can develop in mindfulness. We can heal our own wounds, be a kind witness to ourselves...We can hold clear intention. We can be mindful and wise in our actions and our speech...We can honor the mystical and the numinous, while keeping our feet on the ground. Stay centered. Keep a wide view. Allow wholeness.”

Devastating Tsunami in Japan

“A devastating tsunami and possible meltdowns at two nuclear power plants — happened as Uranus was hours from its always-momentous transition from Pisces to Aries (Uranus rules unexpected shocks and emergencies as well as nuclear power, and Pisces rules the ocean.)”
-Benjamin Bernstein

“The current earthquake bears an amazing similarity with one that hit the island of Honshu back on March 7 1927, the last time Uranus was exiting Pisces and heading into Aries.”
-Ed Tamplin
