“My evenings are taken up very largely with astrology. I make horoscopic calculations in order to find a clue to the core of psychological truth. Some remarkable things have turned up which will certainly appear incredible to you.”
~Carl Jung in a letter to Sigmund Freud (June 12, 1911)
Astrological Counseling
I offer astrological counseling for psycho-spiritual exploration, understanding, and transformation. Astrology utilized in this way can be a missing key for deep inner work and can shed light on the path towards greater harmony with the natural rhythms and cycles of one’s life journey. My approach to astrology is to share the potentials and opportunities I see while exploring how the symbols and archetypes are manifesting uniquely for each individual. Astrology is a wonderful tool for self-knowledge and a help in times of challenge or transition. It can facilitate tremendous insight and peace, as well as provide timelines for certain archetypal or energetic influences reflected in our lives and inner states of being. Consultations available for birth chart exploration, current influences, relationship dynamics, and timing for important events.
We are currently experiencing an exciting and electrifying Grand Trine (a harmonious, flowing aspect pattern) amongst planets in the three fire signs. The Sun, Mercury, and Venus are in Sagittarius, Jupiter is in Leo, and Uranus is in Aries — with trines happening between Nov 26 and Dec 14, 2014 (see exact dates below). In a few words, the Sun is a symbol of the core self, identify and vitality. Mercury is a symbol of the mind and how we express ourselves. Venus is a symbol of love, beauty, pleasure, and wealth. While these inner archetypes connect harmoniously with Jupiter, there is a sense of optimism, opportunity, and grace. While they connect harmoniously with Uranus, there is the potential for flashes of knowing, radical change, and freedom from limitations that have constrained us in the past. A Grand Trine can bring forth rewards for work already completed. Read more...
We are also approaching a Full Moon on Dec 6, which is the climactic phase of the lunar cycle, and we are building up towards the next Uranus/Pluto square on Dec 15th. This will be the sixth of seven exact hits of this life-changing and transformative square (an aspect representing a turning point) from 2012-2015. All of this together can be a little overstimulating, but that is the small price we pay for exquisite and welcome changes, breakthroughs, and opportunities that may present themselves during this period.
Nov 26th — Venus trine Uranus Dec 4th — Venus trine Jupiter Dec 4th — Sun trine Uranus Dec 5th — Mercury trine Uranus Dec 6th — Full Moon in Gemini Dec 12th — Mercury trine Jupiter Dec 14th — Sun trine Jupiter Dec 15th — Uranus square Pluto
During the last week of September and the first week or so of October 2014, there is an inspiring and dynamic configuration of harmony and flow amongst Jupiter in Leo, Uranus in Aries, and Mars in Sagittarius. The trine aspect amongst all three planets suggests they are on very friendly terms with one another, automatically “get” one another, and naturally support each other in their individual efforts and goals. Whichever houses Leo, Aries, and Sagittarius are in, in your chart represent the areas of life where these three planetary archetypes are playing out their roles and happily connecting in a spirited and enthusiastic (fiery) way. Jupiter brings opportunity and expansion, Uranus brings radical shifts and breakthroughs, and Mars brings the energy and drive to bring it all on. When operating in the fire signs these planets suggest a lot of excitement, the propensity for taking bold risks, and the desire for both freedom and passion. If you have planets or points near 15º of any of the fire signs, you will be feeling this grand trine more powerfully. Read more...
“The Star of David, still used as a sacred symbol by Jews worldwide, is based on the horoscope of King David, who was said to have been born with two fortunate grand trines, which interlocked to create a six pointed star. To intimidate his enemies and imply he was unbeatable, it was engraved on his armor. It must have worked, because he seems to have won all his fights and become a powerful monarch. Read more...
In modern times we still see the grand trine as a favorable pattern in the horoscope because it links all the qualities of a particular quadruplicity together - all the earth signs, or all the fire signs - in 120 degree relationships, thus providing the individual with talents in particular areas.
However, we also realize that while the grand trine implies a talent, it is a lazy aspect and the individual with such a pattern may not do a great deal with it unless a large spur is applied to the backside in some manner...
Fortunately, few people have grand trines with so little impetus. Most charts with grand trines show one or more of the three key positions receive a square or opposition. The hard aspects of square and opposition are exactly the spurs that work best with the grand trine: problems that come along regularly enough to keep the lazy aspect engaged and using its talent.”

The spirit of Mercury retrograde, and Venus trine Mars (♀△♂) today
Mercury retrograde can be a time of slowing down and allowing ourselves to tarry/abide/dwell with something that is enriching — or a time to simply be present with something that needs attention. This can be the spirit of Mercury retrograde — letting go of the obsessive drive to go forward... (Things will be moving forward soon enough with Uranus turning direct on 12/10 and Mercury turning direct on 12/13).
For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.
I loafe and invite my soul,
I lean and loafe at my ease…observing a spear of summer grass....
Also Venus and Mars are trine today, the yin and yang, the lovers, the opposites — compliment each other, creating harmony between the archetypes of the masculine and the feminine. Within self and without.
Today Venus in Capricorn trines Jupiter in Taurus — the two benefics make a harmonious connection. Venus, the archetype of love, and Jupiter, the archetype of opportunity, meet one another for a sweet rendezvous. Jupiter is confident and optimistic, Venus is beautiful and affectionate. Both know how to enjoy life to the fullest, but since they are currently in earth signs, it is a grounded and levelheaded occasion.
Mars in Virgo trine Jupiter in Taurus is exact tonight, but its influence may be felt for about a week before and after. Mars, the brave warrior, takes action and initiative to achieve what is desired. Jupiter, the benevolent king, represents increase and positive development. A trine between the two planets gives a natural and easy flow. And both in earth signs support a tangible manifestation… To me this aspect embodies the feeling of opportunity and the inspiration to seize it.
There is a New Moon in Virgo tonight at 11:04p EDT, representing first the end of one cycle... And then the beginning of a fresh new one.
The Sabian symbol for this new beginning is: “Childrens voices and the smiles of elders; it is a merry go round with blatant music and unrestrained joyousness.”
The Virgo archetype represents necessary, honest, and critical analysis — of self first and foremost, and then directing that precise vision outward — for the purpose of improving the capacity to be of service... How do we embrace the current Virgo energy of work and service along with the potent New Moon symbol of “unrestrained joyousness?” On the surface the two themes may appear in stark contrast. Yet, as The Course in Miracles states, “To give and to receive are one in truth.” Read more...
The New Moon is conjunct the Sun and Venus, which corresponds with the opportunity to be in touch with ones core inner being, centered in the heart, and giving/receiving from that deep place. The New Moon also forms a grand trine (a harmonious, flowing relationship) with Pluto and Jupiter — all in practical earth signs, suggesting that there is abundant support to find our way to joyousness, while staying grounded at the same time.
“Joy is a quality of the soul and is realized in the mind when personality and soul are in alignment.” ~Djwhal Khul
“The only true measure of success is the amount of joy we are feeling.” ~Abraham-Hicks
