“My evenings are taken up very largely with astrology. I make horoscopic calculations in order to find a clue to the core of psychological truth. Some remarkable things have turned up which will certainly appear incredible to you.”
~Carl Jung in a letter to Sigmund Freud (June 12, 1911)
I offer astrological counseling for psycho-spiritual exploration, understanding, and transformation. Astrology utilized in this way can be a missing key for deep inner work and can shed light on the path towards greater harmony with the natural rhythms and cycles of one’s life journey. My approach to astrology is to share the potentials and opportunities I see while exploring how the symbols and archetypes are manifesting uniquely for each individual. Astrology is a wonderful tool for self-knowledge and a help in times of challenge or transition. It can facilitate tremendous insight and peace, as well as provide timelines for certain archetypal or energetic influences reflected in our lives and inner states of being. Consultations available for birth chart exploration, current influences, relationship dynamics, and timing for important events.
A Full Moon at 23º Capricorn. The corresponding Sabian Symbol: “The army is erect in a long faultless line as resplendent officers confer upon a private two awards for bravery.” Whether the recognition or reward is coming from outside or not, witness and honor yourself for your courage and strength in the face of lifes challenges. Be proud of yourself for your achievements - for growing into who you are today.
“One faces in great struggle, something one fears. The ‘private refers to someone who is not responsible for figuring out strategies for winning the battle, but follows orders. The orders the private in oneself receives come from ‘ranks that represent authority that is truly inner higher spiritual authority for one.” ~Diane Applebaum, Sabian Symbol Extraordinaire
The Moon is in the Gibbous phase, waxing towards full light on 7/15
The Moon is in the Gibbous phase, waxing towards full light on 7/15. Patience and trust may be required as we wait to see what will be revealed at the Full Moon. When the Moon is full, its light corresponds with objectivity, clarity, and awareness. Something often comes to light or fruition at the Full Moon, but for now we continue our work and allow the process to unfold.
Early on 7/13 Venus in Cancer ♋ squares Saturn in Libra ♎
Here are some of my musings on this aspect: Real love is giving with a spontaneous desire to serve. Being “in love,” in the romantic sense, is wanting with a compulsive desire to get [usually]. What a quantum difference between the two.
The archetype of Venus, though soft and sweet, uses various powers of seduction to fulfill her desires and compensate for a sense of lack. Whereas the archetype of Saturn, though usually thought of negatively because of his harsh and uncompromising nature, on the high side is known for having deep integrity, being conscientious, hard-working, and spiritually responsible (having humility, self-control, and a sense of karma - what goes around comes around).
Heres a more traditional interpretation for Venus square Saturn (♀❏ ♄):
The desire for love and adoration or beauty and comfort may be in conflict with the actual reality before you. It is a moment to see situations clearly and either solidify worthy foundations and build on them, or let go of that which is not working.
Tonight Venus opposes Pluto, then sextiles Jupiter....
Tonight Venus opposes Pluto (♀☍♇), then sextiles Jupiter (♀*♃). One manifestation is intensity in matters of the heart... deep processing... pulling up content from the unconscious... and transmuting it into love. Result = expansion of the heart.
7/9: Uranus ♅, the planet of authentic individuality goes retrograde at 4º34 Aries ♈ (through Dec 10). Uranus represents the archetype of change and the need to break free from stagnation or a pattern that is no longer suitable for your current stage of personal growth. Sometimes this is at all costs, so Uranus is often associated with sudden or shocking, lightning-like shifts. When a planet changes directions it is most powerfully felt. Uranus moves through the zodiac slowly, so any planets or points in your chart in the early degrees may be receiving a significant hit and signaling a call for freedom, which will be felt over a period of months. This may be happening harmoniously or stressfully. Either way, the higher mind is at work. The retrograde period gives a chance to integrate and absorb the major changes that may be taking place internally or in your life.
Mercury trine Uranus, Mercury square Jupiter, and Mars trine Saturn
7/4-7/5: an abundance of Mercury ☿ (mental) energy flying around: a continual flow of intuitions, learning, travel, and sharing - calls, emails, texts, and short trips - back and forth, back and forth - with possible surprises mixed in (note that some people may experience the abundance of activity more internally in the realm of their creative projects). All this communication and activity may have a dramatic or playful flare while Mercury is in Leo ♌. Today with Mars ♂ trine Saturn ♄, we put the ideas into action and get to work. Yet the Virgo ♍ (detail-minded, health-aware, and service-oriented) Moon is Void-of-Course all day, so it is not the best day for beginning important new projects.
July 4-13 Venus connects with all the outer planets
From 7/4 to 7/13 Venus connects with all the outer planets one after the other - bringing intense focus to relationships and ones sense of self-worth. Venus will reactivate the Grand Cross - tension, polarization of opposing feelings, and the need for change/transformation that we felt through June - but Venus also makes harmonious aspects supporting spiritual vision, connection, and buoyancy. With the polarization of opposing feelings, values, desires, and urges, etc. (symbolized by the 2 oppositions that form the cross), the challenge is to integrate opposite positions, either within yourself or within a relationship, rather than to suppress or deny one side of a polarity. The squares involved are difficult and demand that you mobilize in order to turn a corner, but once turned you realize you have advanced through and past an internal obstacle.
“On Independence Day, the cosmos are set up for you to declare independence from the illusion of being an isolated human! Connecting with your divine source, and the divine in others, can flow easily, thanks to a Venus-Neptune trine.” ~Benjamin Bernstein
Early on 7/1/2011 there is a New Moon Solar Eclipse. Eclipses “clip” something out. This can be something we have been holding on to, which needs to be released, or something we are glad to see go. Either way, and though this can be difficult to appreciate at the time, the change matures us and advances our soul growth.
The eclipse is at 10º Cancer ♋. The Sabian Symbol for this eclipse is: “A large and beautiful diamond, in the hand of the lapidary, is now to be cut to its full perfection.” Curiously, this symbol echoes the eclipse theme of something of oneself being cut (or clipped, e-clip-sed), so that the facets of self reflect the inner divine light more perfectly. Some of you have asked me about the Grand Cross. This New Moon eclipse does activate the intense energy formation going on with the outer planets (It will mark the 4th point of the cross squaring Saturn and Uranus and opposing Pluto). We have already been feeling the Grand Cross in the last 2 weeks as the Sun and Mercury have also activated it - this can mean tension, opposition, challenge, stress, etc. as we turn some difficult corners (but rewarding corners which advance us upon our way), and work to find balance within ourselves and our relationships... Saturn, ruler of tradition and structure is in opposition to Uranus, ruler of freedom and sudden dismantling of all that is familiar and comfortable. Both Saturn and Uranus are squared by Pluto, who is taking us down into the underworld, either willingly or by force, for for the purpose of becoming conscious in an area in which we are unconscious, for deep transformation, death and rebirth. This is happening on the personal and collective level...
(The idea of eclipses “clipping” something out is from Helen Adams Garrett)
